La première étape du Tour de l'Ain, qui se courait dimanche entre Lagnieu et Montréal-la-Cluse est revenue à Floris Goesinnen de la formation Skil Shimano. Le Néerlandais s'est imposé devant le Français Paul Moucheraud. Le Batave prend du même coup la tête du classement général.
